My Mum had a very friendly soul - this is for all of her friends all over the world that she made during her unique and extra ordinary life.
Below are a few thoughts/ memories which equate to that. Please add yours!!
*Dropping a pint of blood whilst working in the Blood Bank at Addenbrookes as a school leaver (traumatised her for life).
*Chasing swarms of locusts in a small plane in northern Somalia with Desert Locust Control.
*Raising homicidal lambs (they were!) at our smallholding in Derbyshire.
*Working in a leprosy hospital in Addis Ababa and finding a human leg in the freezer.
*Supporting a maiden white water rafting trip down the Omo River in remote southern Ethiopia, and becoming fascinated by the culture of the local tribes.
* As a Legal Alien Englishwoman in Ohio (not New York), she took advantage of everything America had to offer - introducing her family to cross country skiing... -25degrees F and the wolves howling; then there was that little hike down the Grand Canyon where Dad got severe dehydration..
* Turning tour guide in Istanbul; diving into the history and culture for visiting friends, enthralled by the sights and sounds of the Spice Bazzar, The Blue Mosque and the Cistern.
* Qualifying as a nutritionist, she had many amazing adventures to often very remote villages in Malawi, Ethiopia and Sudan.
* Racing catamarans on Lake Malawi, her main sponsor being the leading producer of condoms, Chishango.
*Donnning a wetsuit in her 70s, sailing on the North Sea literally on her doorstep, looking out for nesting seabirds for the RSBP and supporting the rescue and rehabilitation of marine mammals - mainly seals for BDMLR.
She had a wonderful zest for life; she was loved and she shall be missed.
These above scribblings aren't a speck of sugar on one of my Mums beloved Eccles Cakes - by her own admission she has let a vey full and fortunate life - please add your own memories here!
